Where We Work
For our Children Helping Children program, we have chosen orphanages in the country of Georgia. It is a transcontinental country in the Caucasus region, situated at the dividing line between Europe and Asia. Georgia is bordered by Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey.
In 1922 Georgia was forcibly incorporated into the Soviet Union. Independence was restored in 1991. Like many post-communist countries, Georgia suffered from the economic crisis and civil unrest during the 1990s. Since it's become independent, it has been devastated by multiple wars. The last one—an invasion of Georgia by Russian troops—took place in August 2008.
As our program grows, we will be able to add new countries to our list.
