Where We Work
Children Helping Children program now operates in Tbilisi, Georgia. Georgia is a transcontinental country in the Caucasus region, situated at the dividing line between Europe and Asia. Georgia is bordered by Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey.
In 1922, Georgia was forcibly incorporated into the Soviet Union. Independence was restored in 1991. Like many post-communist countries, Georgia suffered from the economic crisis and civil unrest during the 1990s. Since it's become independent, it has been devastated by multiple wars. The last one took place in August 2008.
The great majority of children living in Tbilisi orphanages are there due to an extreme poverty that plagues the country, leaving their families incapable of caring for them.
As our program grows, we will be able to add new countries to our list.
Children Helping Children, Intl, is a project of United Charitable Programs, Inc - a registered 501(c)(3) public charity.
